One of the arrests. In 1977, one of the criminals called Billy Milligan, who was convicted of armed robbery and three sexual Dissociative Identity Disorders, was arrested by Ohio police officers. His mental state made the investigation difficult because he had 24 different identities. How could he get 24 identities? And how do they all have differing accents and intelligences?
Life of Billy Milligan
Billy Milligan, originally named William Stanley Morrison, was born in Miami Beach, Florida, in 1955 on Valentine’s Day. He was raised by his mother Dorothy and father Johnny. However, once Johnny was killed, Dorothy remarried his ex-husband, Chalmers. Chalmer often abused Billy. He was also forced to change his last name from Morrison to Milligan. The things he experienced during childhood led to his severe “Dissociative Identity Disorder”. He also got the first three identities called Shawn, Christene, and a boy with no name. Held guilty of abusing Billy and causing his dissociative identity disorder, Chalmer went to trial. Later, when Billy became an 8th grader in middle school, he mostly lost his memory of other identities called Arthur, Ragen, and 20 other identities, which have different accents, intelligence, and features in one brain. During an investigation he received from agents for his crimes, Billy was confirmed to have all these different identities. After graduating from middle school, Billy lost control of his body when another identity in him took control for five years. In early 1977, he sexually assaulted 3 women on the streets of Ohio State University. In a few days, he was arrested by police in the summer of 1977. During the testimony, Billy’s original identity woke up and sobbed, saying that he had fallen asleep his whole life. In October, he was released considering his psychological condition. So, he and his therapist tried to unify his other identities, but it was impossible, as Aurthor and Ragen (two identities in him) had already established themselves fully in Billy’s mind. After being released, he moved to Silver House and committed no crimes for the rest of his life. But on December 12, 2014, he died from cancer in a nursing home.
Billy’s other Identities
It’s difficult to explain how Billy had 24 different identities. Ultimately, before his death, he only had 8 identities: the main three were Billy himself, Arthur, and Ragen, and the others were Allen, Tommy, Danny, David, and Christine. Other identities he had before were Christopher, Adalana, Philip, Kevin, Samuel, Walter, April, and many others. Arthur is English and was born in London. He wears glasses, and his accent is so different from Billy's because he uses a unique British accent. He has a better IQ than Billy and has studied Physics, Chemistry, Medicine, Arabic, and Kiswahili himself. With his great intelligence, he investigates other identities who committed crimes. But he is a narcissist who refused an IQ test during trial. Lastly, he is the leader of identities, managing other identities to avoid trouble. Next is Ragen Vadascovinich. Ragen is 1 year older than Arthur, and he is very friendly with Arthur. He only has a Yugoslav and Serbo-Croatian accent. Unlike others, he is very familiar with MMA and shooting guns. He knew how to handle an AK-47 in the U.S., although it wasn’t sold officially in the 1970s. In fact, he knew how to handle every other gun, like the .357 Magnum, and other military guns. Also, Ragen is the only colorblind identity. Lastly, he usually solves problems with Arthur when other identities commit crimes. Next, Allen and Tommy were two very enthusiastic identities. Allen is very fraudulent to other people, and he only smokes with his right hand. On the other hand, Tommy, who is very professional at escaping, even showed his frequent skills of jailbreaking but was controlled by Ragen and Arthur. Danny and David were very kind among the remaining identities. For David, when someone is in danger, he goes out and sacrifices himself. Lastly, Christene, Christopher, Adalana, Philip, Kevin, and Teacher. Christene and Christopher are siblings. Adalana is a 19-year-old girl, and she usually cleans and cooks. She is the only lesbian. She was kicked out of the identity world by Arthur and Ragen because she almost assaulted 1 woman at Ohio University together with Philip. Philip was an identity who had assaulted 2 other women there. Consequently, Philip was also kicked out from the identity world together with his secretary Kevin. Lastly, the teacher is like the helper of the whole identity community, and he knows everything that has ever happened in Billy’s body.

Similar to Billy Milligan’s incident, only 350 people in the world are known to have dissociative identity disorder. Most DID occurs due to severe abuse during childhood, so we have to feel sorry for them.
